D.M.H. Scholarship Gala

The D.M.H. Scholarship Gala is a critical component of the educational support  service we offer at Get on Your Feet  to deliver more help to prisoners choosing to obtain their college education. This gala, held every May, is an evening for the D.M.H. Scholarship Fund to bring awareness of the needs of our students who have a desire to further their education.

This night is a time of celebration and recognition of the students that are being awarded the scholarship. We also use this time to obtain funding and sponsorship for the scholarship fund that impacts students one at a time.

Sponsorship opportunities are available year round.

D.M.H. Buy a Book Scholarship Fund

D.M.H. FoundationDonté HawkinsD.M.H. Scholarship Fund provides a scholarship inspired by Donté  M. Hawkins, the son of Rev. Monica Hawkins, after being murdered in May, 2012. Prior to his death, Donté finally reached one of  his dreams to attend college. He was attending Clarion University, pursuing a degree in criminal justice. This scholarship continues celebrating the passion Donté had for helping other college students to obtain their books.

2015 – 2016 D.M.H. Gala

During 2015 – 2016, the D.M.H. Buy a Book Scholarship was expanded to reach students nationwide. Our pool of applicants grew from 47 in 2015 to over 200 in 2016. During this time, our efforts for fundraising were focused on expanding our reach and supporting the students. We continued to receive corporate and community sponsorship, allowing us to deliver more help through awarding scholarships.
